In the final hours of this year’s legislative session, Arizona lawmakers amended SB 1070 by passing another piece of legislation, HB 2162. The Arizona Capitol times summarized the changes:
H2162 prescribes a few key changes to the new immigration law, clarifying both the definition of lawful contact and guidelines for municipalities, as well as lowering the minimum — not the maximum — fine that can be assessed to cities that have so-called “sanctuary city” policies. It also restructured some of the punitive actions that a court would apply to those charged under the new law.

One of the changes to S1070 removes the word “solely” from the description of the new law’s lawful contact, when it comes to race. So, now race, color or ethnicity simply cannot be used as part of reasonable suspicion.

The last change outlined in H2162 concerned a phrase that said lawful contact can include an officer’s use of the new immigration law “in the enforcement of any other law or ordinance of a county, city or town or this state.”
I am fully in favor of this law. If the Federal Government see fit to determine it Unconstitutional, then they need to fix our borders first! Once the Feds have done what they have promised for years, mostly since 9-11, then we might not need this bill. However, NOTHING has been done. Past Governor Napolitino threatened to sue the Feds and send them the bill for services the State of Arizona had been force to pay, due to their (Feds) lack of duty to it’s citizens. Now that she is Director of Homeland Security, she had turned her back on us as well as all the border states. Arizona has the right, the duty to protect her citizens from an unlawful invasion, and that is exactly what it is . . . an INVASION!! Yes, many good people are wanting to have a better life, thanks to Mexico’s subversive policies and a corrupt government. But, THEY ARE HERE ILLEGALLY!!! What part of ILLEGAL don’t these bleeding-heart liberals not understand?? Finally, the police will have a tool to stop this, and will administer it fairly. If you are legal, then you have no fear. If not, you’d better start packing.
