Saturday all eyes will be on Bernalillo County as the Dis-United Nations of the GOP arrive for the General Assembly meeting. Folks will travel from as far away as House or as close as Albuquerque, but all eyes will be focused on the race for Governor. Wesley Mouch predicts the following:
Allen Weh and Susanna Martinez will both exceed 30%, with the potential for the overall winner coming close to the 40% mark.
The big surprise Saturday may be Janice Arnold Jones and her anxious group coming in a distant third but still not reaching 20% followed by Pete Domenici JR and Doug Turner rounding out the crowd. Reports have been heard that Ragnar Danneskjold may even finish a close 6th, even though he isn’t running and probably wouldn’t serve if elected!
The second race that is wide open, according to Mouch, with most people totally undecided not only with who will win but who is even running, is the Lt. Gov race. Mouch’s best guess is Kent Cravens coming in first with Brian Moore doing better then expected since he isn’t from the Emerald City or the City Different. The big question is will Walter Bradley work with John Sanchez or are the scars from the last battle still visible?
Reports are the entire process could run smooth unless any of the following scenarios come to fruition:
1. Weh tries to throw Janice Arnold Jones out of the convention for being “out of order”
2. Susanna Martinez tries to convict all the other candidates for “crimes aganist humanity”.
3. Since the media is not invited to the actual Assembly meeting, Janice Arnold Jones tries to use her WEB CAM to Broadcast the event, if so see #1!
4. Pete Domenici JR gets angered enough to remove his shoe and beat the table.
5. Doug Turner becomes embroiled in an oil-for-food scandal.
If any of the above scenarios should occur, expect the Harvey Yates Blue Helemet Brigade, led by none other than National Committeeman Pat Rogers, to be called into action and exert swift and powerful justice.
The Bernalillo County Meeting, which some report is actually still going on, may seem short in comparison with this convention with the leadership of National Committeeman Pat Rogers. Pat Rogers stands ready to answer any questions of Law, Rules and order of Business and most importantly about the meal that will be provided to all Assembly Members.
The GOP Convention is this Saturday at the Hilton should you have nothing else to do and actually care about this process show up! Whether this process is usefull or not is for another post at another time!
